Six inspirational Whitman alums share advice that helped them succeed in business, 法律, 教育, 公共服务及其他领域.
罗莎琳达·门多萨06年 always knew she wanted to start a business so she studied economics at Whitman before earning her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Washington in 2015. What she didn’t know was that her future business would tie deeply to her family culture 而且 heritage.

米歇尔·莫拉莱斯07年 studied history 而且 politics at Whitman before earning her 法律 degree at Seattle University. Since then she’s worked in both the King County 而且 Walla County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office as well as other 法律 offices.
Morales is the deputy prosecuting attorney for 要人要人 County 而且 has her eyes set on continuing to fight for more positive change. She is currently running for the top job in her office: prosecuting attorney.

Laura Sanchez ’07 graduated from Whitman with a degree in chemistry in 2007. 她后来获得了博士学位.D. in chemistry 而且 biochemistry from the University of California Santa Cruz—where she now teaches as an associate professor.

García is currently an attorney at Legal Counsel for Youth 而且 Children 而且 has served as an attorney in other capacities across the valley—such as human rights 而且 public defending to child welfare 而且 unhoused youth.
García currently serves on the Board of Directors for the 要人要人 YWCA 而且 co-chaired the 多样性, 西北司法项目公平与包容委员会. 她曾在瓦拉瓦拉市的公务员委员会任职, 瓦拉瓦拉警察局局长咨询委员会, 而且 the Advisory Board for the Blue Mountain Action Council (BMAC) Pro Bono Law Program.

格瓦拉-克鲁兹' 11 describes her career as investing in others 而且 “serving with humility.” She is currently a supervisor for the Migrant Education Student Event Program at the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, 她还在那里担任多元化董事, 公平与包容内部培训促进者.
在她的业余时间, Guevara-Cruz sits on the Board of Directors for various organizations including Fuerza Migrante, Texas Exes Puget Sound Chapter 而且 is the Chair of Communities of Color Coalition. She also volunteers as an application reviewer for leadership programs at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute—a top fellowship program in which she also took part in. The yearlong fellowship provides Latinos leadership 而且 public service opportunities.
Guevara-Cruz was first in her family to attend 而且 graduate from college in 2011. 在惠特曼的时候, she studied Spanish (now Hispanic Studies) 而且 sociology—graduating with honors in 2011. She was involved in the Black Student Union, Club Latino 而且 KWCW radio station. She volunteered with Story Time (reading to local schoolchildren) 而且 translated for the 要人要人 County juvenile justice system.
毕业后, Guevara-Cruz worked for AmeriCorps as a college 而且 career coach for middle 而且 high schools in the Seattle area—focusing on dropout prevention among low-income 而且 minority students. 她获得了墨西哥裔美国人研究硕士学位, 重点是教育, 在德克萨斯大学.

阿里尔G. 鲁伊斯索托' 11 dedicates his professional life to evaluating 而且 analyzing past, current 而且 future U.S. 移民政策. 2011年从海洋之神毕业后, Ruiz索托 earned his Master of Art in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago.
